Residents of other municipalities will be able to buy services offered by “Riga resident’s card”
On Wednesday, May 18, an extraordinary meeting of Riga City Council’s Committee for Communication and Transport Matters approved amendments to regulatory enactments, making it possible for residents of other municipalities of Latvia to buy “Riga resident’s card”. It will be possible to buy the services provided by „Riga resident’s card” for EUR 775 a year from „Rīgas satiksme”.
Thus Riga municipality has fulfilled recommendations of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Regional Development, which, as is known, has approved the binding regulations of Riga City Council that introduce the time ticket (1-hour ticket) for holders of ”Riga resident’s card” in the city’s public transport.
As reported earlier, from this July time tickets will be introduced in Riga public transport, and for holders of “Riga resident’s card” their price will be EUR 1.15. On holidays the price of the ticket will be even lower – just 60 cents. For other passengers, the 1-hour ticket will cost EUR 2.3 according to the tariff set by “Rīgas satiksme”. Still, other residents of Latvia will be able to get the same discounts as Rigans if their municipality compensates fare discounts to Riga municipality, or if they buy “Riga resident’s card” for money.
As for 5x24 hour ticket, or flexible schedule ticket, its price will be EUR 15 for Riga residents and EUR 25 for others.
Apart from the above time tickets in public transport, from July 1 a 20% discount for parking services in zone B, C and D will be also available to holders of “Riga resident’s card”.
As reported before, from April 18 the discounts “Riga resident’s card” apply to goods and services of some institutions. After registering or presenting “Riga resident’s card”, discounts are available in “Mēness” pharmacies, medical institutions of “Veselības centru apvienība” and sanatorium “Yantarniy bereg”.
